  | kennel Arctia caja | Sep 7, 2007 |
The origins of the name of our kennel - Arctia caja is a latin name of one butterfly species larva common in Estonia, garden tiger in English. It’s called päevakoer – dog of the sun – in Estonian. According to a legend in Estonian mythology, the spirit of a dead dog will turn into this funny little furry fellow and come back to have a look at its former playgrounds. Päevakutsik arvatasse mõne endise koera hing olevat. Vanarahvas arvab, et elaja hinged minevat kik looja karja. Sellepärast, kui teine küsib: "Kas sii eläjas alles om?", om küsitu eläjas ärä lõpnu, vastap tõine: "Ei ole, joba läts looja karja." Aga koera hing muutvat ennast looja karjan karvasest ussikesest, kedä rahvas päevakutsik kutsup, ja tuleb tagasi oma vana kohta kaema (Tartu-Maarja, 1888).
